In those days...

Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.

(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)

And everyone went to his own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,

and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Luke 2:1-7 NIV

Thanks for your post, which reminds me of the parable of the talents. God calls each of us to do His work. Some have BIG jobs, in the world's eyes, some little. But we must use our talents and be obedient. Like Joseph. Mary.

The Christ child's is a wondrous miracle no matter how many times we hear it.

Merry Christmas!
Beautiful. Can never get enough of the true Christmas story, and it's so often sadly overlooked.

Thanks for your wonderful story suggestion. You're close to mind, there is definitely romance in it, but not sibling rivalry...although, now you got me thinking!!!!! Thank you!

Australia is on the verge of having its first Saint. Not being of the Roman Catholic faith I don't know the full details, but there needed to be proof of a second miracle before the Pope would give consent for the canonisation of Mary McKillop, a Nun who lived in South Australia and served her community well. No doubt when canonisation occurs there will be much press coverage. I'll be interested to hear about the miracles.
