Monday, Ice, Chalkboarding

We had our ice storm.  First it was sleet, then snow, then sleet again, then ice. The last thing that came down, I think, was more snow that covered the ice.  There was thunder during the sleet, too. Very weird.

It’s the ice that scares us here in MO. The ice storm of 2007 is still too fresh in our minds. We’re rural. We have trees that come down (well not as many anymore).  We have outdoor animals on our farms.
I prepared for the power to go out, but it didn’t.

I didn’t take any photos of the storm or aftermath. Sorry about that.  However, I will entertain you with this drawing by my granddaughter.  It’s called Butterfly on chalkboard wall in toy room.  She tried to talk me into chalkboarding all of the walls in the room.

I said, "Probably not."

So, I’m having computer issues and may have to reload my computer.  If I’m missing online that may be where I am. Reloading.  Or fighting ice storms.  As I write this my laptop is doing better. Della (get it? I have a Dell) is behaving. She KNOWS doesn’t she? She knows I'm about to rip out her memory.
My questions for you this week: Did the storm that vomited here, visit you (probably pertains to U.S.peeps)? Would you chalkboard an entire room’s walls? Have you named your computer?

:) I bet she'd like that. Nope, I wouldn't do it either. BUT if you want an alternative, they do sell magentive paint which allows kids to put magnets on the wall. My neices and nephew love it.
Love the butterfly!

Ice is very scary--no power, can't drive in it. It's the type of wintry weather we usually get here in the south...not snow, mainly ice. Or snow that starts melting during the day and freezes as ice at night! Hope it melts soon for you and that you stay warm!

My computer goes by many names directly based on its performance at any given time.

We had ice layered onto to every object available, stacked beautifully like layers of wax are added to make candles. We had lots of rain before the ice so we were lucky. No power loss. The ice last maybe forty-eight and it was completely gone.

Glad the power didn't go out as that always sucks. And yeah ice can sure be scary, especially to drive in.
No, I wouldn't chalkboard an entire room unless it was the children's playroom. The basement of the Biltmore Estates in South Carolina has walls with paintings done by the chilren, when they were growing up, so there may be some value to doing it.

Hope the next storm that gave you ice and lots of snow for us last week isn't too bad this time around!! Stay safe!

No, I wouldn't paint all the walls in chalkboard and maybe just the bottom half of one wall. It would be too dark for me.

Good luck with the computer.
Glad you weren't iced in and didn't lose power. Sorry, i don't name my computers, although my wife has dubbed the laptop "Lappy."

Glad you didn't lose power. I hate when that happens. I also hate when things ice over. Very dangerous. I couldn't function well in a black room. If they made white chalkboard paint, I'd do it in a toy room. And tell everyone I let the kids write on my walls. Gotta have a little fun in life :)

We got it last night. Not ice yet, but a really heavy wet snow that has broken branches everywhere and made a giant mess. It was a mucky, difficult walk to work. LOVE the butterfly! Kids and chalkboards are great.

All we got here in GA was lot of rain and high winds, but I saw the storm on radar, and it covered half the country!

That sounds like an apocalyptic ice storm. Fun.

Lately I have been calling my computer names that I won't repeat in your comment session. There must be a computer rebellion at hand. Sometimes my computer is my super hero performing computing feats at amazing speeds and then other times it torments me with weird quirky behavior and refuses to do anything. On the other hand, my wife's computer which was been traditionally notoriously slow seems like it's all fired up with energy. Darn computers!

I would totally chalkboard en entire room's walls!! But I would use a different color chalkboard paint than black, if there are any other chalkboard paint colors (I've only ever seen black). I'd make it magnetic, too!

I hope you're staying safe and warm during the ice storm! Southeastern PA hasn't gotten much precipitation this winter, just freezing temps.

No ice storm here in the RV at Breckenridge, Colorado...just had inches of snow dumped upon us.

I will really have to ponder naming my laptop...hmmm...

You always crack me up.

We had quite a few outages from these snow storms, and it isn't over yet. lol Winter does make one appreciate spring!!

I think chalkboard paint for a child's room is a fantastic idea. I place brown packaging paper on my children's and let them draw murals.
