Sunday Reflection: Prevalent and Plenty

When I documented in my notes the words prevalent and plenty, I wasn’t describing something good. There are things you might wish to be prevalent and plenty in your life as in love, money or grandchildren (or is that just me), but there things you wouldn’t want to be prevalent and plenty in your world such as weeds in your garden, bad luck or cockroaches.
Compassion isn’t easy to consider when someone behaves incorrectly or harms another, but it’s necessary for a civilized world. Our responsibility as “God’s chosen people” is to love others as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:36-40). When love fills the heart, compassion overflows.
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.  Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3: 12-17NIV

I pray for compassion to be prevalent and plenty in my everyday life.

Blessings,
Teresa

Lovely post. And yes, may we all be prevalent and plenty in that way.
Sometimes we have to work hard for that peace.

Prevalent and plenty, beginning in our home--that's the part that sometimes we forget.

I agree, compassion isn't easy all the time, especially some of the people I deal with in my line of work. But as Christians, we are called to be a light in this dark world. Thank you for this reminder today!

Yeah it isn't easy to have all the time, with some loons about. But best we can do is not forget to try.

Good post. Manners need to be prevalent and plenty as well.
