Sunday Reflection: Distracted

I may have been called a “Martha Stewart” a few times in my life, and it may or may not have been a compliment. I do like things clean and pretty, but I neither concur with nor deny this accusation statement about me.

Someone that does remind me--of me is Martha in the Bible

“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.

She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.

But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.’ " Luke 10:38-42 (NIV)

Although I would hope that if Jesus entered my home for a visit that I would have the good sense to sit and visit with Him, drink in his wisdom and bask in his love without fussing. And yet, often I’m distracted by preparation and too worn out to enjoy the occasion when it comes to fruition.

Don’t be distracted by preparation because you might miss out on the blessings.
Blessings,
Teresa
P.S. I'm feeling the prayers for my son again! Thank you!

There is a constant stream of prayers for you and your son.

I know I am distracted far too often that work I think must be done. Work and how much we do is not important if we are disconnected from the Truth.

I ground myself by sampling Nature. There is no one that can argue the Creator does exist after watching nature from ants to Eagles.

If you need me I will try to follow directions and come to you.

All we can do sometimes is pray and try to live in the moment...so hard to do!

That is true, have to just let things be sometimes
I know that story well. Sometimes it's better to not worry and just listen for the Lord's voice. A lot of what we do is busywork.

It's so hard sometimes not to get distracted by all that we feel we 'must do.' Life is way too short not to stop and enjoy the moment - at least every once in awhile. Continuing to keep your son in my thoughts and prayers. Take care, my friend.
