Sunday Reflection: Treasures

I find it amusing that when Millie has a toy, and I pick up another toy, she rushes to my hand, abandoning the one she’s been working on, to grab the other out my hand. She's a bit greedy. I’m trying to teach her manners, but I’ve found that dog manners and people manners are regulated by different criteria. Or are they?
It’s no secret that this time of year is filled with shopping greed. You’ll find people doing "a beat down" just to get something for less or something they think their child needs.

At times, I obsess over money, having enough or wanting more. Otherwise, I’m pretty content with life, but at times, I'm like everyone else--I get the wants. Here's the thing. Money is only a tool and is neither good nor evil. It’s what we do with money that blesses or grieves.
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.1 Timothy 6:10 (NIV)
In our final days of life, if we get the opportunity to look back at how we lived, we will probably (I hope) not be cherishing the things we can buy for money, but family, friends and place. As far as I know, money and possesions  have never said to anyone, I love you (and meant it).
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”. Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV)
Blessings,
Teresa

And if my guitars ever said they loved me, I'd be very afraid...
Money is just a tool. And we can do a lot of good with it.

A wonderful reminder, especially at this time of year, my friend. Money can do so much good when used the right way. Millie does said like a lot of humans on the hunt for that 'perfect gift.' :) Hope you have a wonderful day, Teresa!
My character, Samuel McCord, says when we are young, the world branches out into a thousand paths, but towards the end, when we look back there will be only one. Mark Twain wrote that each day is a coin. We can spend it any way we wish ... but we can only spend it once.

As Mason wrote: a wonderful reminder to focus on why we give and what is important. I try to give my Christmas gifts all through the year -- easier on my finances! :-)

I am constantly in a state of anxiety over money. It keeps me up at night. I wake up in full panic attack mode going over the budget.

Sagan does the same thing with toys. I give one to him and one to Pepper and he'll steal hers as soon as he can. Or I give him one then I pretend to play with another one and he snatches it out of my hand. It's one of my fave games because I get to hysterically laughing as he takes each one away from me.

When there is no debt and enough money to pay bills, that is all I need. But yeah can be greedy every once in a while

This time of year can be hard to keep perspective, eh? I've never cared about HAVING money, but there have been a number of times when it was a problem to NOT have money. I just want enough for security and to not have to have it be a high priority--enough that I don't have to think about it much. But the bigger holiday challenge for me is patience--trying to remember everybody had their own story so I need to just step back and be patient.

I try to not get too carried away at this time of year. We buy our kids a few things but we don't go overboard. And we certaintly make sure our children know the real reason for Christmas!

PS. Hi Teresa! I actually did a post today, it's a pic of my baby boy! :-)
