A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYNN

 And here we go again!!!!!!!!

A is for:

A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYNN by Betty Smith - If you have not read this book, please put it on your list. I enjoy reading the classics, but this one hadn't made my list until my daughter said to read it. It’s been years since I read ATGIB, but I still think about the characters and wonder how they are doing. Then I remind myself, they are characters who only get to relive their story each time someone reads the book.  Nothing new. Just the same-o, same-o.
First Line: "SERENE was a word you could put to Brooklyn, New York."
End line: "She closed the window."

BTW: There's a spider on your shoulder. April Fools Day!!!

Ha - Teresa ... I wonder how many April Fool's jokes I'll pick up .. thankfully I don't mind spiders ... but your A Tree grows in Brooklyn - recommended by you and your daughter ... it should be good. You're off to a great A-Z start ... cheers Hilary
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn has been on my reading list for ages! My grandmother recommended it to me. I'll have to move it up on the TBR list.

I'm about to put food coloring on the kids' bathroom faucet upstairs for April Fools. :) Sadly, I got the wrong type (liquid, not gel or tablet), so curious to see if it will work when they turn on the faucet.

I refuse to believe anything on Facebook today. So far one of my male friends has announced his pregnancy and quite a few others are posting phony weather reports of 6" of snow.

Have never read that book but I've heard of it. I think there's a movie as well?

Love hearing about books I haven't read. Thanks. But, 'serene' for Brooklyn? That makes me curious. . .Good luck with the A to Z. DG's French Faves is what I'm featuring.

Consider it added. :)

I know the book but I've never read it.

Like Alex--I've heard of it, but haven't read it. I like the idea though.

This is one of those great books I missed. Having originally hailed from NY, I don't think of "serene" when I think of Brooklyn!

I read it for the first time last month, and was absolutely enveloped in the language and story. I wished I had read it when I was 13.
