PICTURES OF HOLLIS WOODS

W is for:

PICTURES OF HOLLIS WOODS by Patricia Reilly Giff

A Newberry Honor Book winner, this book (I believe it is for middle grade kids—or me) was recommended by a good friend. If you like writing or reading middle grade books, I recommend this book.

First Line (titled First Picture chapter): This picture has a dollop of peanut butter on the edge, a smear of grape jelly on the other and an X across the whole thing.

End Line (titled Fourteenth Picture chapter): A family.

Clever. Impressed me. Held my attention. Fast read. Good book.

I'm not familiar with this one! Thanks for the tip.
Hi Teresa - sounds interesting and just what, I guess?, some Middle Graders would be doing .. but they are part of a family ... cheers Hilary

It's on my TBR list. The one girl I saw reading it said it wasn't her favorite, and she's a big reader.
As long as you enjoyed it!

Don't know this one, but I do like peanut butter. And jelly.

I don't know that one, but I like the lines! :)
I always thought it was a little silly to mark books like that. I read children's books all the time :D

I thoroughly enjoy reading books for all ages. Sometimes I pull out my old Golden Books and revisit old friends. I have read every book my children and grandchildren brought through.

I believe I have conquered my writing program problem. Just complaining to you did the trick. You're magic!

I recognize the author's name, which means I've read a few books by her, but I can't recall any offhand. This one sounds like something I'd enjoy, too. Thanks for the suggestion.
