If only I had cockroaches...

I’m kind of at a loss on what to write for this post. I’ve been away so long and can’t think of anything interesting to say. Not one word. Not one idea. When I’m like this about writing posts, words from a friend comes to my mind.

“If you saw a cockroach walking across the floor, you would write about it.”

I have no cockroaches in my house.

You might consider that a blessing, but what do I write?

About Millie? She’s definitely into everything. Silly and sweet. Ornery and a menace. She met her three collie cousins last week and well she didn’t get it—that she’s a dog, too. I think my sister felt sorry for her, but Millie needs to be with other dogs even if they are BIG collies who are so sweet and good and want to be her family.

She tried to ignore them.

After a long vacation, I went back to work. Nothing new there. I’ve done this every year for twenty-five years. We have tons of new employees this year. The dynamics of a school district. Revolving door, sometimes.

I could talk about trying all summer to get new flooring installed, because I had a wall blown out, but was told “Not so fast”, by Lowes. You will “probably” need new floor joists and all floors need to be ripped out and replaced with new plywood, to create flat floors, they said.

Okay.  I need to get a contractor. Need to get the work done. Oh and save more money. Right now, I have duct tape, taped between the gap of the two floorings to prevent falls, I hope. It looks great. Not.

If only I had a cockroach to write about.

If you’ve not been there, I have a new post at The Ruralhood. It’s a foul story, okay fowl.

That's all I have, folks.

Hi Teresa - well I'm glad you don't have cockroaches and therefore can't write about them. Messy work are new floors .. but hope those pitfalls of cracks are fixed up with a new floor very soon. Glad Millie is still enjoying herself .. and good luck at being back in school, with all the newbies ... cheers Hilary
For someone who had nothing to write about you kept me engrossed to the very end.
Yay for a cockroach free zone.
Sigh on the flooring front.

Hey, you sure had plenty to write about, no cockroach needed haha
Wow, Lowe's was full of bad news for you! Hope you find a good contractor. And glad you have no roaches!

Be thankful you don't have roaches! Ick!!! I've been lucky and never had them either, although they were in the basement lounge/laundry room of my dorm at Emerson in Boston.

Yay for no nasty cockroaches! Wishing you much success in finding a GOOD contractor. Have a great school year :)
That's a lot of work just for new floors.
Don't wish you had cockroaches though.

You said the wall was blown out, how? Does the insurance cover the floors? I hope so for your sake.

Never wish for cockroaches, even in a joke. To me they are the most revolting of creatures. Having live in NC for 12 years they were a constant battle. I cannot stand the things.

Even without the cockroaches you held my attention until the very end. Watch out for that duct tape. :)

I'm here to make you a deal. I'll provide a cockroach and you write a story about it; however, I rather enjoyed this one!

Yikes on the flooring! We've been in a major reno since early May and I know how it goes!!!
Like Jemi worte: Yikes! That flooring is worse than having cockroaches to write about. Getting back to the school grind seems no fun. I taught for awhile, and I miss the students, the politics not so much. :-)

Drop by my blog. Don't watch the movie trailer -- it has cockroaches! :-)

I have a new kitten, Midnight, and he is malevolent little critter when he has been left alone -- too much energy. I have heard of climbing the walls, but he literally does it!

I hope you don't cockroaches. Write about cookies instead. Bake some cookies, take pictures of Millie tearing apart the house while you're busy, and don't worry about spilling milk on the floor, since you need a new one anyway.

Millie'll come round to her cousins. It can take them a while if they're used to being the only dog. Hope the flooring problem gets worked out with someone who knows how to do a good job.

I think you did good. You reminded me that pretty much anything is reasonable fodder, and I had completely forgotten that.
