Sunday Reflection: Life Storms

I can’t even tell you the number of times I’ve driven through Missouri storms. If it wasn’t torrential rains, then it was tornadoes flipping about the sky above me. If it wasn’t pelting ice and slick roads then it was blowing or drifting snow. Like everyone, I’ve navigated through life storms, too, from the mild storm to those that brings me to my knees.

Last week, I read Psalm 107 again and realized it had added meaning for me. This is what I gleaned:

God doesn’t always remove us from life's storms; sometimes He hushes the storm until we feel (His) calm, enough to gather our strength and move forward to a “desired” place.

"Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress.

He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.

They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven".
Psalms 107:28-30

Blessings,
Teresa

But why do all the storms have to happen at once?

Yes, and it is sometimes in the midst of a storm when we hear the whisper of His still small voice. I shared a recent experience the other day on my blog about this very thing. Happy Sunday to you.

Good post. It confirmed what I learned in Bible.Study this past week.
Sometimes there is no short-cut through the valley of the shadow -- just the promise of His guidance and Presence. :-) Great post.
Those are lovely verses in Psalms...thanks for sharing them.
