Sunday Reflection: Not growing weary and losing heart!

Every day, we need God’s comfort and care for the big and small difficulties of life.

Recently, another child in our community passed away from a medical condition. No doubt about it, the death of children is horrific and not a normal progression of how things should happen—when a parent buries their child. This young man was awesome in life and in death, wishing to donate his organs. We’ve already heard about the lives changed from his act of love for others.

His mom’s faith in God’s sovereign authority is amazing, too. She shared how the prayers of others covered them and meant everything to their family. She believes she will see her child again in heaven one day. Even though God did not save her child for earth living, she knows where he is and her faith in God continues. Her witness encourages many.

We know that things don’t always go our way. Prayers are not always answered the way we choose, but keeping our eyes on God, the creator of the heavens and earth, builds our strength and helps us see past our own tragedies so we can focus on the Kingdom to come.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV)

Oswald Chambers said, “There will come one day a personal and direct touch from God when every tear and perplexity, every oppression and distress, every suffering and pain, and wrong and injustice will have a complete and ample and overwhelming explanation.”

We may question why, but rest assured as Christians we will have our answers one day, if they even matter then.

Blessings

Horrific a death of a child is indeed. Not sure I'd be as faithful after that.
Prayers aren't always answered the way we want them answered. God did use that young man to save another life though.

God has a reason for everything.
That poor family. And how inspirational that in their grief they were able to help others.
