Death by FLYING

I am participating in the Blogging from A-Z Challenge again this year. What is this mysterious blogging challenge you ask? Arlee Bird from Tossing it Out came up with this fantastic idea where bloggers post using consecutive letters of the alphabet for 26 days in April. It grew in numbers, and Arlee now has many helpers. To view other participates of the A-Z event click here.

Odd deaths happen, right? It’s sort of like being at the right place at the right wrong time. My A-Z 2016 blogging journey takes us down the road of Death by Oddity. Come join me.

F = Death by FLYING

Imagine you’re a flight attendant for Aloha Airlines and you are sucked out of the plane when part of the fuselage breaks away in midflight. It happened to Clarabelle Lansing in 1988. Horrifying. Read more about it here

How odd and not my choice way of dying.

Is this your worst nightmare about flying, that and being detained by the TSA? If not what is your fear or annoyance about flying the skies?

Comments

I am a total wimp about flying. I am afraid of almost all of it. It is fast. And that is the only positive I can think of. Which is not entirely rational. Dead is dead, and I suspect it would be quick.

I remember when that happened. How awful. They are lucky more people didn't die. It's a pretty strong reminder to keep your seat belt fastened at all times. I loathe flying. It's become so wretched with the invasive screening, delays, tiny seats crammed into tiny rows. You have to buy your food if you want a snack. If I never get on a plane again it'll be too soon.
Scary!

I'm not a relaxed flyer. For one thing, I'm something of a family joke--I'm *always* searched by the TSA. One time it was because of a wintergreen lifesaver in my pocket. Twice it was a particular necklace. Oh, and my luggage is always searched. So bizarre.
I'm already afraid to fly - thanks!

That would be an awful way to go. At least if it was a plane crash you wouldn't suffer.

Sad thing, amazing that no one else was killed.
What a terrible way to die ... though truth to tell, are there any good ways?

Oof! Horrible!
What do I hate about flying? Quite a lot of things, but people with colds are perhaps the worst, because I just know I'm going to catch their nasty germs.

The idea of dying in a plane crash does scare me, but the main reason I don't fly is because it is a huge hassle and driving, while taking longer, is easier and cheaper.

I have enough to worry about when I strap myself into an airplane seat. I can't even start to imagine being sucked out of it into thousands of feet of nothing but air between me and planet earth.
