IWSG Wednesday!

It’s IWSG time, where writers across the world gather to share their writing experience or insecurities. (See below for info on the Insecure Writer's Support Group.) Here we go:

Mirror mirror on the wall who is the best writer of them all?

Of course I don’t think the answer is me, but it is the occasional positive comment that makes me ponder, wait, someone likes my word building? A person is reading me?

So the question of the day: What is the best thing someone has ever said about your writing? For someone who is not a popular, high selling writer or any selling for that matter, I have had a few instances of ego building comments from others about my writing.

1. During one of my A-Z participations, two people compared my writing style to a couple of well-known short story writers. I must say that my head spun for days, causing me to crash into people and objects.

2. Another individual, regarding my posts, commented that sometimes my writing nearly caused her to snort coffee through her nose (humor wise). I love laughing so making others laugh is a bonus for me. This comment pleased me except for wasting good coffee, through the nose.

3. Another reader said she enjoyed reading my posts (another A-Z year) before heading to work and hoped that I would post before she had to leave.

These comments are wedged in my heart, sparking me onward as needed.

But what matters most to me is the support of my fellow blog writers and the blog readers who continually show up here, and at the Ruralhood, to encourage me just when I need it. For this I say thank you!

The IWSG was created by Alex Cavanaugh and assisted by awesome helpers. The Insecure Writer's Support Group website supports writers with writers and helpful information. Check out the sign up list here.

haha making someone snort coffee through their nose is sure a win, as long as they don't snort it on you.

I think I'm missing out on a theme for t IWSG this month. Must have missed the memo. And who hasn't snorted a beverage through their nose I have. Root beer to be exact.

hahahaa 'snort coffee through my nose'!!! I find hot cocoa is the most soothing coming out the nose. Fizzy drinks are the worst. lol
You made someone snort coffee - that's awesome!
Isn't it amazing how even a small compliment can brighten our day/world. An excellent reminder that we need to say positive things more often.
Hooray for the blogoverse. And Alex's positive influence.
Having someone laugh at the humor in your writing is a great compliment. Envisioning coffee through the nose is worth another laugh, though is does sound painful. Luv the black and white photo of the little girl in the checked skirt!

I enjoyed hearing each of the comments about your writing, Teresa! I know that spinning, crashing into people and objects feeling! That's how I felt when a short story of mine was published in a literary journal; but the spinning started after my feet found the ground again ~ which took a while! How wonderful that someone snorted with laughter at your humor! I think humor is the most difficult thing of all to write; it scares the heck out of me. Kudos to you for accomplishing that!

Loved your comment to your blog readers and writers! I'd have given up long ago without the encouragement and help. of people like you. I stumbled into blogging, and I had no idea how wonderful and supportive the blogging world is! All the best with your writing this month!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I wondered about your comment on "success." Then I realized it was the last paragraph of my post. Hmmmm. My parents, my sisters and brothers, all will consider me a success when they see my name in print under the title on a fantastic cover.

And yes, it's the very same people who've encouraged me and supported me with my writing over the years. Think I started following the Ninja Captain, just because of that image and because my sons are into Ninjas. Stayed with the group because I always learn something from them.

We need those ego boosting comments from others. And yours were great ones. It's nice to be so happy you don't notice those obstacles and bump your shin. Yay for those moments of happiness.
