How do I say this?: A Sunday Reflection

In one of the darkest times of my life, I sat crumpled in the floor sobbing. I've had a few of those not so great times. At first there was unbelief and I felt numb, then heartbreak. As I always do, I prayed, but this time was different. I wanted someone to blame.

Heartbroken. Life changed. I cried out to God and started to pray, but first I wondered: How could God let this happen to me, to my family? What could I pray that would make this thing disappear?

I had no words for God. I didn't know what to pray.

The Holy Spirit (God's Spirit), in me, took over and helped me pray the words I needed. God calmed my soul and gave me the strength that I did not have. The hush between silence and words allowed me to hear God say that although life would change, He would walk with (or carry) me through everything single thing I faced, until things seemed better and beyond doomed.

And He did. He still does.

Sometimes we don't know what to pray because we feel weakened, ill or sad.

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans."  Romans 8:26

Our all powerful and loving God who built the universe and all within can handle anything we throw His way. He knows us better than we know ourselves, and He knows what to do.

"And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God." Roman's 8:27

When we truly trust in God, hope grows and pushes fear and anxiety to the backseat.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

When we don't know what to pray, just let the Holy Spirit take over. And listen.
I am so glad you have found support for those hard times. The times we all have.
Such a great reminder. Thanks for this Teresa. Hope you have lots of happy times ahead!
