Monsters and...

Seven-year-old Granddaughters

“Grandma, what kinds of monsters live in your house?”

“I don’t have monsters in my house. I’ve lived here as old as your dad is and I’ve never seen a single monster. And, I've looked under every bed and in every closet," I said trying to cover all monster hideouts.

“I saw one.”

“In that one bedroom.” Her eyes narrowed. Her voice got lower. “I saw it out of the corner of my eye. I saw... its shadow.”

“Show me.” Goosebumps danced on my arms.

“It’s gone.”

Where does she get that imagination?

I wonder.

Have a great monster of a weekend.

  1. The open mind of a child is an amazing thing to share.

    Enjoy, they turn into teenagers!

  2. Happy Monster hunting, and Happy Mom's Day!

  3. If only we all still possessed that type of imagination. Not about monsters, though.

  4. LOL, nothing better than spending time with an open mind :)

  5. Ya'll need some of my Monster Spray. Get's rid of any kinda monster guaranteed. I took a can of air freshener (be sure it is a different fragrance than you usually use, kids are smart that way) Make your one Monster exterminator label and glue it on the can. little more monsters.

God bless ya and have a marvelous Mother's Day weekend.

  6. A perfect little story for Mothers' Day. Hope yours is happy and monster free.

  7. Okay, your granddaughter is SO a future writer ... Happy Mother's Day, Teresa :)

  8. that is really precious...aren't children wonderful with their sense of adventure and imagination?

  9. I love the imagination of children.

  10. Hi Teresa .. aren't they just great .. if only we could keep our minds open to the joys of childhood ..

No need to wonder any longer - I think I know .. but I'll keep the secret to myself ...! cheers Hilary
