Therefore, we do not lose heart.

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned;struck down, but not destroyed....

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4 (NIV)

JW's Journal: It's all about the heart. When our hearts are joyful, we shine. When we lift our hearts in worship to God, our spirit soars. There is no tearing the two apart when God and his creation is entwined... when we give our heart. But we CAN choose to harden our hearts or let others penetrate the often fragile state of the heart. Our hearts can be crushed and perplexed, diseased and broken, but if we believe in the heart of God who promises to never leave us- ever - our hearts will never be destroyed and we will mend. We may feel bruised, but if we hang onto that measure of hope that exists in our hearts, our minds and our souls...we will survive. Fuel the heart with goodness and gladness...and faith. "Therefore, we do not lose heart." Are you feeling bruise? Are you brokenhearted? Don't lose heart, my friend. Hope in God. "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." I know this to be true, I have experienced it.

I am praying.

Blessings!

Oh, love the reflections on the heart. Particularly the line from Corinthians that what is unseen is eternal. This is true on many levels, on feelings, spoken words that linger, memory, emotion. What capacity the heart has to hold all this. Have a nice Sunday ...
So true everything you have said, Joanne, you understand.

This is THE real Secret to life isn't it?! Life happens to us all, sometimes fabulous, sometimes wrenching, but knowing God is Emmanual, that He will not forsake us, that He will bind up our wounds... Not allwoing a bitterness to take over our hearts, but holding the hope of what we believe, and wait to see with our eyes. Isn't it amazing that God does not waste our pain ever?! It astounds me that He can take our sorrow and make us comforters, beautiful, like Him...

Jesus learned obedience through suffering. If He could needed suffering to learn, how could we not?

This is a beautiful post. Thanks for sharing.

How did I miss that - long, long day. :-) Too many coulds, sorry. If He (Christ) needed suffering to learn, how could we not?
TTWC- I love what you said, "Isn't it amazing that God does not waste our pain ever?!" It's true. I believe we are perfected.

Judy, isn't that true? Our suffering can never be measured to his and yet it matters to Jesus. We do learn from our suffering.

You both are awesome women.
