Rest

Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.

By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.

And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. (Genesis 2: 1-3, NIV)

JW's thoughts:
To say we live in a fast paced world is an understatement. Most of the time, we meet ourselves coming and going. And technology, that's supposed to make our lives easier, occupies our minds and time all the more.  Is that a good thing to be so connected all day, every day?

Sometimes we need to unplug. Sometimes we need to reflect. Sometimes we need to rest. Without rest and renewal we become exhausted, unhealthy--mentally, emotionally, and physically drained.

God knew what he was doing when he rested after his great work. What is rest to you?

Love your post. Sometimes I think all of the technology we have isn't good for us. I know our grandparents worked harder than we do, but I think they also relaxed more. I'm not sure my body could handle rest it's been so long. LOL

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Well, I may some what understand technology but I use hand tools. :)

Rest for me always occurs on Sunday and includes....well rest. Doing nothing, chatting with family and friends. Rest for me MUST include music though. :D

Have a restful Sunday.

For me rest is very important , its the actual mantra for my soul to rejuvenate. the whole 6 days we run behind things in our life. we run for the deadlines, we run for the targets, we run and run and run. but the 7th day... we all must stop. and take rest.. lungful of breath and then think how to stay focused and never loose track of our life. its important for the body and the soul.

Sometimes I think I do more on Sunday, go to church, go see my mom, by the time I'm back home it's 2:30 or 3:00. Then I crash either in front to the computer or TV. Hope you have a very restful Sunday!
I think rest is time to think and reflect. Something I feel like I do less and less frequently! Thanks for the reminder, Theresa!
Sometimes my rest day is Saturday - an opportunity to slow down without demands on my time.

We all do need a day of rest. Sundays are set aside to worship the Lord, and to rest. We all need it, and I agree with the person saying that sometimes you feel you have done more on Sunday than really rested.
I have a very close relationship with my Jesus, and I never miss church unless I am ill but I did this morning. A person who I am very close to, purposefully has deceived me and I'm dealing with a hurt right now. Teresa, please pray for me because I'm finding a very hard time today just finding my peace.

Sunday for us is church attendance, and if my disabled daughter doesn't feel well enough to go, we read scriptures together at home, listen to uplifting music and other "spiritual" music, and watch DVDs that are also inspiring. My daughter and I believe that God really did say, "Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy." In other words, pull back from the cares of the world and focus on that "higher power," whatever that higher power is for each of us.

Rest can be lying down, listening to music, and letting myself drift into a lovely nap. Rest can also mean a long walk, a good bike ride, or time with a friend. It's taking time to just BE. Enjoy your day of rest!

I love that I met you out there so it's been a delight to visit your blog!
I enjoy resting on Sundays!
Cooking or just sitting down with nothing on my mind than resting.
We all need down time in order to recharge our "batteries"

Have a great day of rest!

Rest to me is quiet time either alone or with my husband, totally focused on whatever the present moment brings, with no planning, and as little thinking as possible. Thank you for this lovely reminder of the importance of rest.

I wish I had rested!

Rest for me is the quiet peacefulness of no schedules and no demands...I think.
Rest for me is when I drop myself into my jacuzzi tub, light a candle and put on Kenny G. Everyone know ya don't disturb mama when she's in the tub! That's my time.

Yes, our day of rest is not what God intended for us I'm sure. That old Ox fall into the ditch far too often, sometimes with a little push!

God bless ya and have a marvelous Monday!!!
