Sunday Reflection: Life Beats
I
am weary – exhausted.
“Come to me, all you who are weary
and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is
light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
I am worried about the details of my life.
“Do
not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
I am filled with fear and can’t put one foot in
front of the other.
“For
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound
mind.” 2 Timothy 2:1 (KJV)
What about faith – what does it mean to be faithful?
“Now
faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1
(KJV)
Why am I here? Is my life meaningless?
“For
I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Life is beating on me and I am overwhelmed by sickness,
death, financial problems, betrayal or (fill in the blank).
“I have told you these things,
so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take
heart! I have overcome the world.”John 16:33 (NIV)
