Sunday Reflection: Smells

Sometimes smells get to me. Sometimes, icky smells take away my appetite.
When God created humankind (Gen.1:27), he prepared a paradise (Gen. 2:15) for his creation to live in, but it wasn’t long before the humans messed up that plan (Gen. 3). After that, the first murder was committed (Gen.4).
I’ve often wonder if the stench of the human race ever turns God’s stomach. Smells like: hate, selfishness, racism, lust, cheating (to mention a few)--all generated by His children.
But scripture tells me different.
For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.” (Read more here: 2 Corinthians 2:15 (NIV))
As a child of God and a member of society, we have the responsibility to do what is right (rules and laws), to love others and to follow Christ's example for living in this world. Following the wrong things and activities never turns out well, for us.
I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” John 13:15-17 (NIV)
If we use love, in our interaction with each other, we not only produce a sweet aroma {of Christ} to God, but to others also. The world needs the sweet aroma of Christ. Anything else is just…stinky.
Blessings,
Teresa

We studied on that last passage recently. Christ gave us the example to follow.

I know I'd turn my nose up at many a human
