A Riddle and Two Posts

So I ask you, what’s less than three pounds, travels at bullet speeds, sports a pig like tail and has teeth that rival any shark? Give up? It’s Millie Vanilli (Vanilli is her middle name—like it?)!

Millie's my brand new, nearly 10-week-old Mal-Shi puppy. That’s a Maltese and Shih Tzu mix, if you didn’t guess. In my world we call these designer puppies—mutts. My mutt Millie came from a shelter, and we're happy about that.
(This was Millie's last photo at the shelter.)

She runs fast with razor sharp teeth ready to poke painful holes in my ankles and anything else in her way. In fact, I was so desperate that I went to Walmart in hopes that they carried steel socks. You know to discourage her from biting me. No such thing? I settled for a Nylabone.  They had those. It occupied Millie's teeth for nearly an hour and then she hunted down my ankles again.

She may look sweet and...SHE IS.

Go check out this poem, Twas the Night before Easter, by Gail At the Farm a remake of Twas the Night Before Christmas. Very clever, Gail!
And go read A Skill Test with Such Zest by The Cat and Pat Hatt at It's Rhyme Time.  So cool, you'll drool.
You'll be entertained by both.
I'm still at The Ruralhood this week posting R through W:
  1. Rocking Chair
  2. Stafford and Dugan
  3. T's Dress
  4. U - (Umm, I don't know yet)
  5. Vintage Gift
  6. W- (Well, you'll have to wait and see. Me too!)

Oh, your baby is SO CUTE! She will outgrow the biting--just keep her stocked with chewies. Our dogs have always like rawhide--Meijer sells them in bins--for the little dog we just buy a bag of the square ones, but bone-shaped may work better for a serious chewer.

She is so, so cute. I know you'll have a blast with her and if she's not already (which I'm betting she is), she'll be spoiled in no time.

I applaud taking animals from shelters. My question is how could anyone leave this baby there in the first place?

Congrats on your new little bundle of fur! She's a little doll! I hope you can break her of biting your ankles soon. :) I'm sure she'll outgrow that. I like her name!

Kind of a p.s.

My friend just acquired a new puppy. We've both been bloodied, but unbowed by that little beatiie's teeth. Good luck
Hi Teresa .. Millie Vanilli - how fun ... she sounds quite delightful once those teethlipegs get a little less sharp or she learns that making things bleed is not a good idea ... delighted for you! Cheers Hilary

Cutest dog ever. I've seen six week old Shih Tzu Jack Russell puppies, and they'd melt your heart. But she takes the dog biscuit, this Millie Vanilli. I wonder how much bigger she'll get, and when those teeth will get less sharp - the other pups were the same!!!

My mother-in-law took a puppy back because it was nipping her heels. That's a natural puppy thing, right? Are they teething?! Your new puppy is beyond precious!
