Last week was something to talk about…
I was scheduled to go back
to work/school after the Thanksgiving holiday when at 2 a.m. Monday morning (last week), my
body decided something different. I awoke to both a volcano and a tsunami event, playing inside my tummy.
I had the stomach flu with
fever!
For the better part of three days I was
ill and of course I slept a lot. I’m not telling you this so you’ll feel sorry for me or to gross you out. I wanted to
tell you that after my “natural cleansing”, I noticed a new higher energy level—out of my norm.
My new energy pushed me through
working a full day Thursday (no fatigue) then traveling to a Walmart in another town to shop. Did
my body flush out toxins that had slowed me down? Could be. I remembered
reading how the intestines “know” more than we know they know. Get that? “The enteric
nervous system is often referred to as our body’s second brain.” This is an interesting read here on how our gut thinks.
Something for our real brain to think about.

My first day
back to work, we had an intruder drill. My
office has no windows, so I sat in the dark for 30 minutes, which was creepy in
itself. Do you want to know what was creepier? The quiet! Have you ever been in a school where all the children were
quiet? It’s enough to make your skin crawl. Enough to make you tear up. Enough
to make you beg God to end the drill so you can hear the children again.

I bought a new Christmas
tree. It’s white. Stringing lights
on a tree is enough to send me over the edge, so I bought a pre-lit one. Here
it is.
Don’t notice the tag (that I missed) among the lights and ornaments. My
daughter pointed out Sunday afternoon, there’s a second one on the opposite
side.
And Millie? She’s being
good thus far with the tree and gifts. I can't say the same for Monkey, though. Monkey is on a
shelf awaiting her third surgery.

Our cats have been so bad about Christmas trees we have given up. Love the look on Millie's face when she brought Monkey to you.
The tree looks a delight - it's amazing how we can miss those simple things straight in front of us ... so easy to do. Glad Millie is learning self-control - poor 'old' monkey needing some repair!
They do fire drills at the Nursing Centre - and it was quite disconcerting for the patients when the door automatically closed and the bell went off - and they were left ... til the door was re-opened. I spent some time in rooms with worried patients ...
Cheers and have a good week. Hilary
Hope Millie keeps being a good girl! And gives Monkey a break. :)
I enjoy quiet, but quiet in a group of people can be unsettling.

I wouldn't have noticed the tag. I wonder if Millie will find it now that she can't have Monkey?
We bought a pre-lit one this year too - sooooooo much better :)
We had a Code Red drill this week too and it is definitely unsettling!
I hope Millie doesn't decide to play with those lights.
