Computer, FIP and October 18

I am happy once again! Well, I wasn't unhappy, but you know. Dr. Lovely Daughter's wonderful boyfriend fixed my Mac!  And yes, for wondering minds, I knew he was wonderful before he put new parts in the ole laptop. My hold up now is figuring out how to work around Microsoft Word or buy it. Anyway, I shook with joy just thinking about retiring my pen and paper again. Although, I will miss the smell of paper.

Great news about your Mac and about Roland's appearance! Google Docs can be a good workaround for Word. :)

It must be nice to have someone who can fix a computer on call. There are many times I could have used that.

Yes, it is difficult, Teresa, with Apple, and so many other sites, requiring a phone number for purposes of identification with regard to my book selling, and my hearing aids can only be connected to the mobile, not the landline, which I'd prefer to use. 😱

Congratulations on getting back to the screen. I also love the smell of paper (and the crinkly sound after they've been all written on), so I keep all of my lists and notes in notebooks. That way I have the best of both worlds.

I broke down and bought it, but then got Novlr for writing because I like how it gives me kudos for hitting my word count goals.

While I enjoy the pen and paper, having a computer that works is better. I have done battle many times with it.

Hi Teresa - oh yes I've recently had computer problems and am now grappling with Excel - people will send things in new fangled ways ... while my foggy brain, with its inherently aged programmes takes time to engage and work! I need a daughter with a boyfriend!

Glad you've got yours fixed, or almost, but you're here again ... and I look forward to Roland's stories on Friday - it'll be good to see him here - cheers Hilary

Have you tried OpenOffice as an alternative to Word? That's what I've been using the last ten years or so and I have no problem with it – and do irritating Windows updates to contend with.
