December IWSG: Do you have favorites among your gifts?

My love language is gift giving. I love to give gifts, but I also enjoy receiving gifts.
The Insecure Writer’s Support Group is the creation of science fiction writer Alex J. Cavanaugh. You can find his books here. He started the IWSG, “To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!” The IWSG’s website offers resources and a support group. Join the blog hop the first Wednesday of each month here

December’s awesome co-hosts are: Tara Tyler, Ronel Janse van Vuuren, Pat Garcia, Liza, and Natalie Aguirre!

The optional IWSG question is: As a writer, what was one of the coolest/best gifts you ever received?

What are the best gifts I’ve received that are writer related?

Three writer gifts come to mind.

The first writer gift arrived in the late 1970s (maybe early 80s), my first electric typewriter! I had been typing my short stories on a manual typewriter. True story! I still have it. The new electric typewriter was the coolest. It had all kinds of features. My toddler son thought he should be able to play with it, so I bought him a Fisher Price typewriter. Each time I sat down to type, he typed on his. It worked great.

The second gift that I loved getting was from my sister--a mug. It reads, "I am a writer. Anything you say or do may be used in a story."

The final gift that I loved getting (early on) were legal pads. When I would receive them, I would feel like John Boy Walton receiving his Big Chief Tablets. I still write on yellow legal pads, but less these days. No one has gifted me legal pads for years.

On another note, this is the first year in years that I have about ninety percent of my shopping done for Christmas. Merry Christmas to all of you and may your New Year be loaded with blessings!
