A Light in the Dark

If you read my blathering on this blog then you know I have a fear--of the dark. I prefer light bulbs to candles, electric lamps over lanterns.

When my electricity goes off and I need to use a candle or a flashlight, I am amazed how a small flicker of light can transform an entire room. Without the light I can’t do what I need to do without bumping into and falling over things. Light is helpful.

As Christians we have been commissioned go out and tell others about Jesus and how he saves (Matthew 28:18-20). We are to be Gods hands to help, mouth to speak, legs to travel (1 Corinthians 3:5-9). We are to be his light in this world.

Even if we don’t feel like it, we are to represent God in all we do (2 Corinthians 5:16-21). Those we encounter need to see us as one of God’s disciples.  

We are to be the “light on the hill” a beacon of hope.  

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5: 14-16 (NIV)

Be a light for Him all year long.
