I feel like an Idiom

I was as sick as a dog with a chip on my shoulder. Why you ask? Because out of the blue, someone rubbed me the wrong way, jumped the gun and now will pay the piper.
This is how it went down.
“Will you forgive me?” he asked.
“You’re barking up the wrong tree, Buddy. Forgive? Maybe once in a blue moon, maybe never,” I said.
“You’re making a mountain out of a molehill.
“Way to be an eager beaver when asking for forgiveness,” I wheezed with anger and sarcasm.
Get off your high horse.”
“YOU hold your horses.”
“Baby, it’s a dog eat dog world,” he said, “and, you eat like a horse.”
“You need to watch your step, Mister.”
“But, it was a piece of cake.”
“No, it was my last Twinkie and you ate it AND—Twinkie is going bankrupt,” I cried.
“You’re blowing this out of proportion."
“I know and I feel like an idiom,” I said laying my head on the kitchen table, facing the empty Twinkie wrapper.

Do you have a favorite Idiom?

That was clever.
Sometimes I feel like an idiot - does that count?
Hi Teresa .. that was a great story .. "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" ... its value is as great as your Twinkie .. unless you see it smiling, then its teeth will tell its tale and thus value, or unless you've eaten it - when it's gone?!

I have many - but they sort of appear as and when ..

Have a good rest of the week - perhaps someone will bring round some more choccies ....?

Cheers Hilary

I'm seeing a lot of fallout online about the dire Twinkie situation. This is turning out to be quite the 2012 crisis.
"That dog won't hunt twice"...I've got a list too stinkin' long to go through but I bet that doesn't surprise ya one bit!

Cute post sweetie!

God bless and have a beautiful day.

Keep warm...Old Man Winter came callin'!!! :o)

Great job! I like it when the kids put their own spin on it. My oldest said this one. "You scared my pants down." It still makes me chuckle.

I'm like Nezzy, I have a long list too. This was a cute post!
Love these! I *sometimes* will even use them with writing...everyone relates, after all. I haven't had them edited out yet. :)
I like "She's one sandwich short of a picnic." These are fun. There should be a writing contest where you have to use 100 idioms to tell your story.

I'm not a fan of idioms but my husband is. I do use them on occasion but because writers are told not to use them, I'm making more of a conscious effort to avoid them. Funny story though.

LOL - too funny :)

I try not to use them in my writing, but they still sneak in.

Happy Weekend!

I used to have lots of favorite idioms. Until my editor broke me of them and drove them away with a cracking whip.

It's hard to steer clear of idioms. They are so ingrained and familiar. One of our college English teachers told us to make our own and not rely on the writers from bygone days.

This was hilarious though. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
