Sunday Reflection: Change

I doubt if I'm alone when I say, I don't like change. Most changes, that come my way, attack my comfort zone. It seems to take me a long time to adapt to something good like new furniture or a puppy.
Some people have learned better coping skills than others. This came to light the other day when one of my colleagues didn’t deal well with a request I’d made, but another said when I apologized for the inconvenience, “Sounds good.  I will get it done.  Some people just don't want to roll with changes no matter what.  I am adaptable.”
Their philosophy resonated peace with me. I want to be like that person, “roll with the changes”, be “adaptable”.  Recognizing that life is full of change will help squash change's change on us.
It is what it is!
  • There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
  • a time to be born and a time to die,  a time to plant and a time to uproot,
  • a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
  • a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
  • a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
  • a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
  • a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
  • a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
  • a time to love and a time to hate,  a time for war and a time for peace. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NIV

May God bless you and keep you,
Teresa

It's probably easier to roll with the changes when we realize there is One who never changes!

We roll with it at our sea, doesn't mean we have to like the bad changes though

OK I read that in the tune of the Byrds 'Turn Turn Turn'. ;) I'm like you, I don't care much for change and I have a hard time being adaptable, but I guess that's the only way to cope with life.
Hi Teresa .. I'm in favour of change usually ... and I love those sayings - so good to read ... and now JoJo mentions the Byrds .. I'm back with them too ..

It's summer coming .. where would we be if we were stuck in Winter - I'd be very unhappy! Cheers Hilary
I am like you: I do not adjust well to change. I like my patterns, my habits, my comfortable routine.

Perhaps the One of Whom Alex spoke wants to shake us up sometimes, to become fully awake to the glorious world He created or to show us some path that will lead us to the task He designed us to undertake.

If we do not go with the flow, we are in danger of drowning under it I think.

To live with people we must contend with the invisible thorns that sprout from them. Not fun! I pray your Sunday is healing. :-)

Come to my post and listen to the talented voice actor, Robert Rossmann, narrate a portion of my mysterious Historical Fantasy.

I tend to be a person of routine and a homebody, but conversely I like a lot of variety in my life. Having spent so many years living on the road I learned to adapt to a lot of change. I guess I can go either way.

It depends on the change for me. Some changes I love and I do love trying new things. Other changes feel like they're ripping my heart out. :)

Whatever change is coming your way, I hope it makes you smile, at least once in a while.
