Xtra, Xtra read all….
X is for: Xtra Reading:
Two additional books I’ve enjoyed reading.
THE REINCARNATION OF
PETER PROUD by Max Ehrlich (Adult)
First Lines: He
walked out of the cottage and into the night. He was stark naked.
No end line for you! It might spoil the goods.
And
DOLL BONES by
Holly Black (middle grade)
First Line: Poppy set
down one of the mermaid dolls close to the stretch of asphalt road that
represented the Blackest Sea.
End Lines: Poppy
smiled a familiar scheming smile, her eyes alight with new hope. “You want to
play?” she asked.
The first lines
of both books, I have studied, wondering about their clever pull. They have my attention.
Comments
Doll bones - interesting thought ... Poppy sounds a right little Miss ... cheers Hilary
I don't read MG books unless I'm reading to the grands--maybe a few times a year. Usually we're doing other things. But, I could see how I could use my voice in reading it for more effect.
