Sunday Reflection: Prayer

The world is turned upside down with the Coronavirus dictating our lives and killing people. Our governor has asked for a day of prayer--today.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

I pray all the time and about everything—even if it seems selfish because God understands where I’m coming from. It’s a part of who I am in my faith to pray continually.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

We might not understand why God doesn’t take away the bad experiences in life, but one day we will understand. We might be given insight in this life, after situations and catastrophes pass, when we can see more clearly. Our prayer might or might not save us from a bad situation in the way we want, but when we pray, we are changed. Our faith becomes stronger. After we surrender our circumstances to God, we are promised to be filled with peace.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

These are terrible times that we are experiencing. I encourage you to talk to God. Give him thanks. Pray until you feel his peace, that goes beyond our understanding, fill you.

I pray blessings over you. Be safe!
Teresa

One day we will be with God and none of this bad stuff will ever happen again!
I am glad that your faith brings you support and comfort, both of which are always in high demand.

What a great idea to have a day of prayer. Everyone is affected by this virus and I'm sure the
prayers will be most welcomed.

Thanks for this reminder, Teresa! As the old hymn says, "Take it to the Lord in Prayer."
