IWSG- May 2022: How do I get to the end?

It’s that time again to gather together as writers and blog about our insecurities.

The following post was written for the Insecure Writer's Support Group monthly blogging event created by author Alex J Cavanaugh. Alex's awesome co-hosts this month are SE White, Cathrina Constantine, Natalie Aguire, Joylene Nowell Butler, and Jacqui Murray! Be sure to visit each cohost and Alex. Visit the IWSG website for a list of other bloggers participating.

The optional questions for May are: When the going gets tough writing the story, how do you keep yourself writing to the end? If you have not started the writing yet, why do you think that is and what do you think could help you find your groove and start?

I will be using the first question: When the going gets tough writing the story, how do I keep writing to the end?

I don’t have too many issues writing to the end, once I get an idea. I'm not often stuck but when I am I use an outline. Sometimes, my story looks very little like my outline in the end, but that's okay.

My biggest struggle is getting my stories ready for market. They become the little piggies that want to stay home. My problem is that I pick over my stories until they bleed or that could be my blood.

This week, I wrote a 100-word flash fiction, which was fun. Also, I am nearly finished with a 1400 word short story. Let’s see if Thieves goes to market or stays home.

Happy writing! Happy reading!

Happy writing and reading to you too.
Hi Teresa - it's good you're writing, even if slowly ... enjoy those times and the summer days - cheers Hilary
Hope he goes to market!
Too funny about the little piggies! I can understand how that could happen. Maybe focus more on the story and less on diction, if that's the slow-down.

Love the analogy! Hope the piggy gets to market!

It is difficult getting your work to market, especially if you submit to multiple markets. Each has different requirements and procedures. Makes me want to pull out my hair. But it's worth it, so keep sending!
