Death TRAP

I am participating in the Blogging from A-Z Challenge again this year. What is this mysterious blogging challenge you ask? Arlee Bird from Tossing it Out came up with this fantastic idea where bloggers post using consecutive letters of the alphabet for 26 days in April. It grew in numbers, and Arlee now has many helpers. To view other participates of the A-Z event click here.

Odd deaths happen, right? It’s sort of like being at the right place at the right wrong time. My A-Z 2016 blogging journey takes us down the road of Death by Oddity. Come join me.

T= Death TRAP

In Beijing, just this year, a woman was found in a nonfunctioning elevator—dead. A maintenance crew had disconnected the power in the elevator because it wasn’t working properly, but didn’t check inside for riders. When the workers returned a month later, from a holiday, they found a dead lady, who had been trapped inside the elevator. There’s more in an article here.

Elevators make me sweat, just as much as scarves do and makes my heart pound out of my chest. Elevators are very…enclosed. They also move up and down, sometimes jerking like they’re getting ready to stop OR fall. I’m always hopeful for a good ending, where the elevator slows gently to its stop and the doors  open.

Wow, what idiots the maintenance crew were. Another good reason to take the stairs

I don't like elevators either. i used to have scary elevator dreams when I worked on the 6th floor in San Francisco. And my senior year dorm elevator was teensy and ancient...it had a gate you had to open and it was always getting stuck. Fortunately it never happened to me. I would end up walking the 5 flights to get to my room!

You and I will be on the stairs together, then. I'd so much rather get the old heart rate up by climbing steps than I would being enclosed in a small, dark box. Now that story has only confirmed my deepest fears.
Were they charged with anything? So terrible to die in that way. Many elevators come with niches with phones. What a needless tragedy. :-(

I with you on elevators. Well, not physically on the elevators with you, but I feel the way you do about them. It's the stairs for me when it's not too many flights.

So far I've never been stuck on an elevator and hope never to be.

I can't believe no one thought to check if the elevator was in use before cutting the power!

Escalators make me sweat as do staircases. When I was two I tumbled down an escalator.

I just knew you were going to tell a tale of something like Dustin Hoffman's Straw Dogs...the bear trap. Neither is a pretty way to go.
Okay, now I get to have nightmares! But your A to Z looks like a treasure trove for a mystery writer--26 ways to die?

Hi Teresa - I don't like enclosed lifts, particularly if they're full ... I avoid them if possible ... Poor woman - not good to think about ... Hilary

Finding your blog for the first time while out blog hopping from North Carolina during the #Challenge before hurrying on to visit as many blogs as possible on Sunday, our day off. I am addicted to English cozy mysteries because the crime takes place in a paragraph or two and there isn't much blog. Your theme isn't my thing, but appreciate this well presented blog. Easy to read and navigate. Thank you. If you have interest or time, I have been writing about hotels and inns, the architects and settings. On the letter T day it was about tea at a lovely hotel yesterday. Join me.
